Thanksgiving was a success!

I invited members of Copenhagen American Expat Meetup Group into my home for a traditional(ish) Thanksgiving dinner. It was the first time I'd met half of the people who showed up, and it was also the first time I'd hosted Thanksgiving, first time I'd roasted turkey, made stuffing, made cranberry sauce, or made any kind of food for eight people, and this was our first time having houseguests in our condo.

Though one turkey leg did not get fully cooked, though I had the oven set to the wrong temperature, though I completely forgot about the rolls until well into the evening, I definitely call it a success. My stuffing and cranberry sauce were, if I do say so myself, excellent. The other four turkey legs were fully cooked, juicy, and more than enough meat for everyone. Diana brought green beans and Brussels sprouts. Ken brought sushi, and his wife brought an Irish dessert (called "trifle" or something?). All wonderful.

More importantly though, was it was fun! I loved cooking all the food, and I loved eating it with such great company. Tycho enjoyed many extra doses of being doted on as well. Winking

The Golden Compass

I'm so excited to see The Golden Compass. I love polar bears. Is it weird that that's a big part of why I'm excited? :-P Polar bears are cool because they are so cute, and so fierce too. They're huge, but still cuddly. They eat seals, and it's messy, and it's a bit clumsy, but they're still graceful, somehow.

back up and running

I had to download an alpha version of RapidWeaver, but now it's working with Leopard and I can blog again! …and there was much rejoicing.

I just want to take a moment to say that despite the fact that RealMac Software claims RapidWeaver is "Leopard-Ready" even though the latest stable release is unable to publish a site that uses blog pages, I really do love RapidWeaver. I think it's dumb that they say it's Leopard-Ready when it's not, but I just can't get that upset about it. Maybe I've had too many customers yell at me about things that aren't my fault, are only slightly related to something I did, or even were my fault, but were honest and easy mistakes. Maybe I've just made too many mistakes myself. But I find myself thinking about the fact that RealMac Software is made up of regular people. Not even that many regular people. They make a great product, and it's not perfect, but it's better than what I'd have if it weren't there.

So here's to my blog software. Skål!
