More Muse

As promised, more details from the Muse concert…

We were "frisked" before entering. It was the lamest frisking EVER. I don't think they even looked at the lower half of my body. I could have had a sword and nunchucks strapped to each leg.

The opening band was apparently a Danish high school band. They were ok. Or at least, they may end up sounding like a decent band later but right now they sound like a high school band with potential.

There were several locations provided for purchasing beer. Clever flatpack cardboard units can be folded for one person to carry as many as five beers back to their awaiting friends. I had not seen anything like this before. There was a distinct lack of containers for putting the flatpacks and the plastic lids that were on each cup of beer, though, resulting in quite a bit of litter in a very short amount of time.

The songs were roughly half from Black Holes and half from Absolution, except somewhere in the middle they had a good run of older material (Sunburn, New Born, Feelin Good) and the encore included Bliss and Plug In Baby.

At one point, Dom asked everyone to break out their cell phones to wave around in the air. Obviously, he's not familiar with Denmark; nearly everyone had a lighter on them. I guess there is an upside to all the damn smokers in Denmark.

Getting our coats from the coat check took approximately as long as the concert, but it was a lot more crowded, and I had a lot less control over where I stood. I don't believe I have ever been touching so many people at once. It was much worse than Apple Store Mall of America on the day after Thanksgiving. Much worse.

But it was worth it, and it was cheaper than the upcoming Ace of Bass concert, which I will not be attending.

Muse

We just got back from my fifth ever Muse concert, and the first outside the US. They are still amazing live. More after sleep.

Cheap art

Bodoni Art
Our bedroom is all black and white. I wanted some art for the walls that would be in black and white, complement our duvet cover, without being quite so busy. I was not having any luck finding what I wanted, but I had a flash of brilliance. We bought some RIBBA picture frames at IKEA, and I used my favorite font, Bodoni Ornaments (the very same one I used for many of the graphic on this site) to make my very own art. All I had to do was pick various font sizes and position them so they fit in the right amount of space. It was quite easy, and I'm very happy with the results! Hopefully I will be posting pictures of them on the walls soon.
