online time, and baby prep

One site I go to regularly will not let me on anymore. Another is bugging every time I log in, such that it sends the same message to one of my friends every few seconds, and I can't make the chat window go away. Another is completely dead. Another has a couple of members that are annoying me to the point that I don't find it worth going. Yet another has ridiculous moderators on power trips and I'm losing my patience with that too. It's probably just as well since I've been ridiculously tired lately.

I haven't experienced any Braxton Hicks ("practice" contractions) during the pregnancy, until a few days ago. Now I'm getting a couple every day, and it's pretty exciting. I feel like things are really gearing up and getting ready to go. Not that I have any indication how long it takes to get ready, but at least something is happening. My track record on being patient is not very strong, and I'm surprised how laid back I feel about the whole birthing thing. I'm ready to go now, but hey, if it's another month that's cool too. I never thought I'd feel that way!

All our big pre-baby projects are done, so we're pretty ready on a practical level too. The furniture is moved, stuff is stained, drilled, nailed, washed, and whatever else. There's still a bit of straightening up before I'm ready to post pictures of our flat's new look, but hopefully I'll get the gumption to do that soon. I finally found a place to get a My Brest Friend nursing pillow shipped here from the UK, and it arrived yesterday. The site didn't have pictures accompanying the pattern names, and I got to select from "pink stripe," "blue stripe," "oatmeal," and "sunburst." I chose sunburst, and I must say I was pretty darn surprised to find that is apparently blue, but I'm happy enough to have the darn thing at all that I really don't care.

Thomas' mother had suggested that we get a pram to sit on the balcony so Dagmar can sleep outside. Apparently, having your baby sleep outside is a big deal in Denmark. I still don't quite understand it, but I'm not against it, but I thought getting a pram that won't actually go anywhere was a bit strange. Thomas really thought we needed something for outside naps on the balcony, and although we probably could have gotten a cheap used pram, I read enough reviews of the Amby Baby (for my UK readers, you may know it as a Nature's Nest) that I decided to get that instead. It's ordered and will arrive any day now. Apparently, Amby Baby Europe ships from Sweden, so we got a special cheap delivery for being in Scandinavia. Woo hoo! Of course, we still had to pay 25% VAT on it, but I'm looking on the bright side today.

Tomorrow, I have the last or next-to-last (depending on if I go past 40 weeks or not) midwife appointment. Then on Thursday, my mother is arriving in Denmark for the very first time. Thomas is taking the day off, and his whole family will be with me at the airport to greet her with a barrage of Danish flags. If you're like me, you think that's really cheesy, but if you're like my mother, you think that's awesome. She will totally love this, so I'm looking forward to it because it will make her smile. Happy Then the plan is to show Mom our flat, and then spend the day with the fam. Mom has met Thomas and his siblings, but not his parents. Mom also seems to think Denmark is the middle of nowhere, and I'm curious how she will respond to the new culture. Should be interesting!

I'm debating setting up a new blog just for Dagmar-related stuff. This assumes I'll still have things to talk about other than Dagmar to warrant having this site too. Winking Still pondering.
